You finish polishing, and in the sun there are still circles of swirl marks. Outdoors, a black car shows holograms across whole panels. The marks are still visible right before you hand the car back. The problem is usually the last step: no dedicated finishing pad. The RO Custom Mirror Foam Pad (Black) is a high-density foam pad made for RO polishers. The pad face is foam, and the backing is heat-stable EVA with an added custom cushioning layer. In the standard polishing sequence, it comes after the coarse and medium foam pads as the final finishing step, used with MISO No.10 Mirror Finish (1000 grit) compound.

Things to know
- This is a finishing pad for the final step, not a heavy-cut pad. To correct deeper marks, use the matching heavy-cut foam pad or a wool pad instead.
- Soft black paint has its own dedicated pad. This one isn't designed for soft black paint.
- Pad diameter, hardness grade, backing adhesive, pack quantity, and recommended safe RPM aren't published yet. For RPM, stay within your polisher's factory manual limit — if you're not sure, message us on WhatsApp first.
- Materials to avoid and care/cleaning instructions aren't published yet either. Test on a small hidden area the first time you use it.
- Heavy cutting with an RO polisher can burn through the paint or cause the pad to skip. Don't press down too hard.
- Extended heavy cutting heats up the backing plate. Let the machine and pad rest partway through to avoid warping the backing plate.
- Wear eye protection and a mask while polishing to avoid flying compound dust.
FAQ
Black is the industry's standard color code for mirror pads — it signals the highest density, for the finest finishing. Any mirror foam pad with the highest density works; color isn't the only factor, but black has become the standard way to identify it.
Not recommended. Each pad is matched to a different grit of compound, and mixing them can throw off the cutting result. Dedicate one pad to each compound and label them after use to avoid mixing them up.
Yes, right away. The paint is at its cleanest and smoothest right after mirror polishing, so applying Angel Coating Guard or a coating now gives the strongest adhesion and the best result. Don't leave bare paint exposed for more than 24 hours.
